INSTRUCTIONS:
Making a video audition for the program is very easy. Using a video camera, make us a 3-minute video.
Getting Started:
- HAVE A FRIEND OR RELATIVE FILM YOU. It will make the quality of your DVD better.
- MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT BACKLIT. Standing in front of windows or other major light sources looks terrible on camera.
- ROOM SHOULD BE WELL LIT TO AVOID SHADOWS.
- STAND/ SIT IN FRONT OF A COLORFUL BACKGROUND so you don't appear washed out. White walls don't work.
- DO NOT WEAR ALL WHITE OR BLACK OR ANY OUTFITS WITH INTENSE PRINTS as they may affect image quality.
- SINCE THE MIC IS ON THE CAMERA, POSITION THE CAMERA CLOSE ENOUGH SO WE CAN HEAR YOU CLEARLY, AND SPEAK LOUDLY.
- MAKE SURE YOUR FACE IS CLOSE TO THE MIDDLE OF THE FRAME.
Once you press record, here’s what we’d like to see:
- Start by telling us your name, age, where you live, and what you do for a living.
- Next tell us who you want to find.
- Then follow up by explaining to us why you want to find this person. Include the backstory between you and any efforts you’ve made to find them in the past.
- Don’t hold back- tell us what searching for this person means to you, tell us what you’ll feel like if you reconnect and you get to see them face to face. Tell us what it would feel like to get bad news about this person or find out that don’t want to reconnect with you.
- Show us how important this is to you and be as specific as you can be so that you convey the emotion involved in your story.
